There are a number of training courses scheduled for 2006. More information on scheduled dates for training is available.
This course is designed for system and network engineers, technical support engineers and technical consultants. It is also suitable for pre-sales consultants who require more in-depth product knowledge.
The ZXTM advanced course focuses on programming interfaces, extended functionality and more involved integration concepts, and is aimed at trainees who need detailed and specific information about ZXTM for advanced deployments.
The advanced course takes 2 days, or can be combined with the standard course for a total duration of 4.5 days. Courses start at 9am and end at 5pm, with lunch provided.
The course includes the following topics:
An certification exercise is provided in the course. This certification exercise entitles the trainee to use the title "Zeus Certified Engineer" if successful. Holding certification in Zeus products implies a sound working knowledge of the concepts covered in the course, and a high level of professional competence in the installation, configuration and maintenance of the ZXTM product.
The certification exercise contains two components: a multiple choice questionnaire lasting 30 minutes, and a practical problem-solving task which may take up to 2 hours. The pass rate for the questionnaire is 60%. Certification is valid for 1 year and is a prerequisite for Zeus resellers.
Trainees attending the ZXTM Advanced Course should be familiar with all of the materials presented in, and successfully completed, the ZXTM standard course. The advanced course includes programming ZXTM using TrafficScript, which is an intuitive and powerful language for manipulating traffic and load balancing behavior. A working knowledge of HTTP/1.1 and familiarity with a scripting language such as Bash, Perl or Python is extremely helpful. For guidance, the advanced course is aimed at a slightly higher level than the Zeus Web Server and Zeus Load Balancer courses.
Different ZXTM courses are offered to suit distinct audiences. The advanced course also covers more involved configuration suitable for experienced systems administrators.
The advanced course is only offered to trainees who have already been on the standard course. If required, both courses can be run sequentially, with certification, in 4.5 days.
